Have you ever spoiled a great opportunity just becuse you suffer from a low self esteem? Have you ever been so frightened at a job interview that you totally screwed it, even though you know you are fully competent for the job?If that sounds familiar to you, you should realize that building self esteem is the key step to being your true Self and living the life that you deserve. Having healthy self esteem is an indication that you are in touch with your inner self, and you will find it much easier to realize the things you want in your life.
If you do not want to miss out on another great opportunity and live the life you want, here are three strategies for building self esteem.
1. Rely On Your Own Opinion About Your SelfThe first step to building self esteem is learning to rely on your own opinion about your Self. This act of self reliance will help you connect with your inner power. If you do not rely on your own opinion about your worth, you are letting other people or the external environment shape who you are. Then, even you try hard to raise your self esteem, your efforts will be brought down because you are relying on the outer opinions to tell you who you are.Everybody in the world is at different level faced with disapproval from other people. Some people rely on their own thoughts about their Self and these people are usually remarkable. They are not giving the exterior environment the power to shape who they are.
PRACTICE: Start using this strategy by paying attention to your thoughts. Each time you find youself being brought down by other peoples' opinions, pay attention to that moment. By constantly doing this practice, you will find that the self-limiting pattern of yours starts to deminish. You are beginning the process of building positive self esteem.
2. Set a Concrete GoalBuilding self esteem is all about directing your energy to a particular goal or purpose. When you know what your goal is, you are displaying a sense of determination, which is a symbol of positive self esteem.Take a moment and think of a few people you know that do not seem to have a purpose. More likely than not, these people are not determined as they are not focusing their energy toward any set goal in life.Finding a specific purpose in life can be quite challenging for some people at first. But once you start trusting your own opinion about your true Self and ignoring the outer distractions, you'd find that it becomes extremely easy to set a specific purpose for yourself.
PRACTICE: Start writing about your purpose. Don't stress if you can't seem to think of anything at the beginning. Just keep writing whatever thoughts that come to your mind. Gradually you will notice that some of the thoughts start to clarify. Next thing you know, you already have set a purpose for yourself.
3. Change What You Talk To YourselfWhether you notice it or not, what you think and say to yourself will directly shape your self esteem. Remember the last time you say something good to somebody to boost their confidence? Or the last time you say something discouraging to someone and how it brought him/her down? Do you know that you are doing the same thing to yourself? The only difference is that what you do to yourself is of greater magnitude, whether it's good or bad. This is because you are talking and listening to yourself every minute, every second, every day.
These unconscious behavior is more powerful in building up or bringing down your self esteem. So the most effective way to building self esteem is changing your self-talk, and replacing it with positive affirmations.
TIPS: Imagine what you would say to someone you know if you want to raise their confidence. Use the same dialogue and read it to yourself everyday. If you want to achieve faster results, look at yourself in a mirror while reading it.Remember, nothing will be accomplished without taking action. Go practice these strategies right now and every day. You will see your self esteem improved and your desires realized.
